YAS / DIS40 Written Advocacy Workshop
Join SCC Specialist Counsel Jake Lowther for the inaugural YAS and DIS40 workshop – the first in a planned series of joint events bringing together the next generation of arbitration practitioners from Germany and Sweden. Hosted at Kastell Advokatbyrå in Stockholm, this interactive workshop will explore the art of written advocacy in international arbitration.

Through a panel discussion with experienced counsel and arbitrators, followed by a hands-on drafting session, participants will gain practical insight into what makes written submissions truly persuasive, and how strong written advocacy translates into long-term career development.
Agenda
15:00–15:15 – Welcome & introduction
Opening remarks by YAS and DIS40, introduction of speakers and participants, and an overview of the workshop’s objectives and the importance of written advocacy in arbitration practice.
15:15–16:00 – Panel discussion: Written advocacy from different perspectives
Panellists draw on their experience as counsel and decision-makers to discuss what makes written advocacy effective in international arbitration.

The workshop highlights practical drafting techniques and demonstrates how strong written advocacy contributes to credibility with tribunals and long-term career progression.
17:20–17:30 – Closing remarks
Summary of key insights from the panel and workshop, and thanks to speakers, organisers, and participants.
17:30–18:30 – Cocktail Reception
Informal networking opportunity for participants to continue discussions and share experiences.
