Arbitration Week 2024: Focus on Public Procurement Disputes

During SCC Arbitration Week, a dedicated session on 21 October examined arbitration in public procurement contracts. Key speakers, including Julia Tavaststjerna (Region Stockholm), Olof Larsberger (Kastell Advokatbyrå), and Madeleine Thörn, shared insights into how arbitration differs when public entities are involved.

This event coincided with the release of the SCC’s groundbreaking report comparing dispute resolution in public procurement cases through arbitration with the courts. Attendees gained valuable insights into the efficiency and practicality of pursuing arbitration or other ADR methods in these contexts.

Costs of Arbitration and Transparency

On 3 October, the SCC hosted a webinar on the costs of arbitration and allocation of costs, presenting updated data and insights from its latest report. Featuring Jake Lowther, Lotta Knapp Lönroth, and Tobias Hamrin, the event highlighted efforts to enhance cost transparency and efficiency under the SCC Rules, including for expedited arbitrations.
