SCC Arbitration Institute

Commence arbitration

Arbitration is commenced by the claimant sending a request for arbitration to the SCC.

At the same time, the claimant must also pay a registration fee.

The request for arbitration must include:

  1. the names, addresses, telephone numbers and email addresses of the parties and their representatives
  2. a summary of the dispute
  3. preliminary information about the relief sought by the claimant
  4. a copy of or a statement of the contents of the arbitration agreement or arbitration clause relied upon by the claimant
  5. any comments regarding the number of arbitrators and the seat of arbitration
  6. where applicable, the name, address, telephone number and email address of the arbitrator appointed by the claimant.

Submit the request for arbitration here.

Please note that applications for an emergency arbitrator should be sent to: emergencyarbitrator@sccarbitrationinstitute.com

Registration fee

Under the SCC Arbitration Rules, the registration fee for arbitration is EUR 3,000 excluding VAT (EUR 3,750 including VAT). Under the SCC Rules for Expedited Arbitration, the corresponding registration fee is EUR 2,500 excluding VAT (EUR 3,125 including VAT).

VAT does not have to be paid by businesses based outside Sweden. EU businesses must provide their VAT registration number.

Payment instructions will be sent by email as soon as the request for arbitration has been submitted to the SCC.

Digital invoice management

SCC applies digital invoice management and the reference invoice for the administrative fee will be uploaded to the case specific SCC Platform site and made available to the party/parties liable for payment following the rendering of the final award. A notification will be sent by email when the invoice has been made available. Please notify the case administrator should you need a paper copy of the invoice.

Notification costs

Notification by registered mail (within Sweden) or courier (internationally) to two respondents is included in the registration fee. For more than two respondents, an additional cost for notification will be charged. If the notification fails, an additional cost will be charged for each subsequent notification, regardless of the number of respondents. The same principle applies when the claimant requests notification of a respondent to more than two addresses. In summary, there are two notifications included in the registration fee in total.
