Report on costs of arbitration and apportionment of costs under the SCC Rules

The SCC has released an update of its report on the costs of arbitration and apportionment of costs under the SCC Rules from 2016.

The 2024 Report provides fresh data from 221 qualifying arbitral awards on the size of disputes, their duration, and costs, as well as how Arbitral Tribunals and Arbitrators have ultimately apportioned the costs of arbitration and costs for legal representation. 

For the first time, data on the SCC Rules for Expedited Arbitrations has been included.

Protracted disputes threaten public procurement contracts – SEK 900 billion at stake every year

The total value of public procurement in Sweden is approximately SEK 900 billion per year. When public procurement disputes arise, large sums of money are at stake. A new report from the SCC Arbitration Institute shows that these disputes can be resolved on average almost a year faster through arbitration than in court. Improving time efficiency is crucial to ensure that critical public investments are not delayed.

The SCC Arbitration Institute is committed to improving its services and staying close to the needs of users. To this end, the SCC has sent out a survey to more than 500 recipients in October 2024, targeting participants in concluded arbitrations and other dispute resolution methods from 2023.  

SCC Arbitration Institute and CIETAC Renew Cooperation Agreement

The SCC Arbitration Institute and the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) have renewed their Cooperation Agreement, originally signed in 1984. The renewal took place at the China Arbitration Summit 2024 in Beijing, attended by over 5 million participants, and aims to strengthen international cooperation in arbitration.
